Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming part of everyday life, from the recommendations we receive online to the voice assistants we use at home. But what does AI mean for schools and, more importantly, for our children?

AI in education is not about replacing teachers with technology. It is about giving students new tools to explore ideas, solve problems, develop creativity and prepare for a future where technology will play an increasingly important role.

How Can AI Be Used in Schools?

AI can support learning in many different ways. Students can use technology to explore complex ideas, analyse information, develop creative solutions and experiment with real-world applications. Teachers can also use AI to enhance learning experiences and provide students with more personalised support.

But perhaps the most important lesson is that AI should be a tool, not a shortcut. Students need to understand how to question information, recognise bias, protect their privacy and use technology responsibly. Alongside digital skills, schools must continue to develop the human skills that technology cannot replace, including creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and empathy.

Taking Future-Focused Learning Beyond the Classroom at Sunmarke

At Sunmarke, we believe students should not simply learn about the technologies shaping the future. They should have opportunities to explore, experiment and create with them.

Our new AI Labs bring together a range of emerging technologies and real-world disciplines, giving students dedicated spaces to develop practical skills, solve problems and turn ideas into action.

At the heart of this innovation is the Quantum Lab, our flagship lab, bringing together AI, Robotics and Quantum Computing. Students can build and make intelligent robots, while exploring how quantum computing can be used to solve large and complex problems.

The X-Real Lab brings together Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality. Students can use immersive technologies to simulate science across biology, chemistry and physics, while developing new ways to visualise and understand complex concepts.

The DollarX Lab connects Financial Literacy, Stocks and Investing, and Business. Students can explore how investments work, learn about making money and develop entrepreneurial skills by creating and exploring their own business ideas.

The Strike Lab combines Esports, Simulation Racing and Sports Broadcasting Students can learn about the various careers in the E-sports industry, explore competitive gaming and simulation racing, and develop skills in sports media and broadcasting.

The Pulse Lab focuses on Human Performance, Health Science and Wellbeing. Students can build and use sensors to observe human biology, convert physical activity into digital data and analyse information to understand human performance.

Together, the five labs create a connected ecosystem where technology meets real-world applications. Students can move beyond simply consuming technology to understanding it, experimenting with it and creating with it.

What Does This Mean for Parents?

For parents, AI in education should not simply be about whether a school has the latest technology. The more important question is how that technology is being used to enrich learning.

Children need to be prepared for a future where AI, robotics, immersive technology, data, finance and digital innovation will increasingly influence the world around them. This means giving them opportunities to develop both technical confidence and the critical thinking needed to use technology wisely.

At Sunmarke, the new AI Labs are designed to give students exactly that opportunity. From building intelligent robots and exploring quantum computing to creating digital games, analysing human performance and developing business ideas, students can connect classroom learning with real-world possibilities.

Because the future is not simply about what AI can do. It is about what young people can imagine, create and achieve with it.
